The program is a full-time, research-based programme conducted over two semesters per academic year, where students work closely with qualified supervisors from proposal development to thesis completion. Assessment includes the research proposal, semesterly progress reports, and the final viva voce examination. Candidates are required to produce an original thesis that makes a significant contribution to Chemistry, either by proposing their own research topic or working within their supervisor’s research area. After successfully defending the proposal, students carry out data collection, analysis, and thesis writing. The programme aims to develop independent, critical, and innovative researchers prepared for advanced research, collaboration, and professional scientific careers.

All research students must enrol in Research Methodology (USCP 6013) and at least one of the University’s General Courses (subjected to courses offered in each semester listed in SPS website).
