The Master of Education (Educational Technology) program prepares students
to critically and analytically address challenges in the field while fostering
digital competency and lifelong learning for career advancement. Students
will develop a strong foundation in Educational Technology principles and
research methods, gaining expertise in designing innovative instructional
materials and technologies to enhance teaching and learning quality. The
program emphasizes solving real-world educational problems through critical
analysis, synthesis, and practical application, while fostering collaboration
within professional and learning communities. Students will also refine their
ability to communicate ideas effectively and utilize diverse digital tools and
software for study and research. With a focus on designing, managing, and
implementing advanced digital solutions, this program equips graduates to
enhance educational practices in dynamic and evolving contexts, supporting
their continuous academic and professional growth.

UTM Master’s Degree Entry Requirements (Local & International)
To be eligible for a Master’s by Mixed Mode program at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), applicants—both local and international—must meet the following requirements;
Academic Requirements
For First Class / Second Class Upper / Excellent Pass Bachelor's Degree
CGPA of 2.75 or higher (Scale of 4) or equivalent: No working experience required.
CGPA of 3.38 or higher (Scale of 5) or equivalent: No working experience required.
CGPA of 13.75 or higher (Scale of 20) or equivalent: No working experience required.
Percentage of 68.75% or higher: No working experience required.
1000 Marks of 687.5 or higher: No working experience required.
For Second Class Lower / Very Good Pass Bachelor's Degree
CGPA between 2.50 and 2.75 (Scale of 4) or equivalent: Subject to rigorous internal assessment.
CGPA between 3.13 and 3.43 (Scale of 5) or equivalent: Subject to rigorous internal assessment.
CGPA between 12.5 and 13.75 (Scale of 20) or equivalent: Subject to rigorous internal assessment.
Percentage between 62.5% and 68.75%: Subject to rigorous internal assessment.
1000 Marks between 625 and 687.5: Subject to rigorous internal assessment.
For Good Pass / Third Class Bachelor's Degree
CGPA below 2.50 (Scale of 4) or equivalent: 5 years of relevant work experience required.
CGPA below 3.13 (Scale of 5) or equivalent: 5 years of relevant work experience required.
CGPA below 12.5 (Scale of 20) or equivalent: 5 years of relevant work experience required.
Percentage below 62.5%: 5 years of relevant work experience required.
1000 Marks below 625: 5 years of relevant work experience required.
Admission through APEL (For malaysian candidates only)
Malaysian citizens with an APEL.A T7 certificate can be considered for admission (subject to faculty approval).

English Language Requirements (International Applicants Only)
If your previous degree was not conducted in English, you’ll need to meet UTM’s English proficiency standards. Accepted minimum scores include:
MUET Band 4.0
IELTS Band 6.0
TOEFL iBT score of 60
Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 59
Cambridge English score of 169 (B2 level)
Or completion of ELS Level 109 (CIEP)
If your score is lower, you’ll need to attend either UTM's Intensive English Programme (IEP) or ELS CIEP and complete up to Level 109.

Who’s Exempted?
You’re exempted from English tests if:
You finished high school or graduated from English-speaking countries (like the US, UK, Australia, Singapore, India, Nigeria, etc.).
You’re an undergraduate with international school, A-Levels, or IB qualifications.
You’re a postgraduate from Brunei, Indonesia, or other Malay-speaking countries and your thesis will be written in Malay (with approval).
For Islamic Civilization postgrads, thesis in Arabic is also allowed (with approval).
Linguaskill is a 100% online and computer-based test, which enables test takers to be remotely proctored and have their English competency levels tested wherever they are. However, we would like to inform you that UTM will only accept the Linguaskill Online language proficiency test results if the candidate registers for the test with a Malaysian test center specifically under SASBADI (Institution: MY959) which is the exclusive and authorized Linguaskill Agent by Cambridge Assessment English in Malaysia. The decision to use a VPN to register for the Linguaskill test with a Malaysian test centeris up to the individual student.

Health Requirements (International Students)
All international students must undergo a mandatory health screening upon arriving in Malaysia. You must be free from any infectious or contagious diseases, and if you're from a yellow fever endemic country, you must provide a valid immunization certificate. Without it, you may be subject to quarantine for up to 6 days.
UTM reserves the right to withdraw admission offers or terminate enrollment if a student is found to have serious health issues that may affect their academic progress.
