Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical-Mechatronics) is a program with honours that has been established and offered for more than two decades by UTM. The program is a four-year program completed with one year final year project. Mechatronic Engineering is an engineering field which combines engineering fields such as Electronic, Electric, Mechanical, Control, Software, Computer and Information Technology.
This field has become rapidly increasing and expanding within industries especially in manufacturing industry since the significance of micro processing and micro control is recognized its significance in industrial control. Furthermore, Mechatronic is the technology behind the smart products, which typically includes microprocessor, control system and mechanical field. An engineer equipped with knowledge, experience and specialization in Mechatronic field is a pre-requisite for any up and running industry.

Industrial design is the integration of aesthetics, technology, ergonomics and marketing – know- how into new products, in which the needs of people are transformed into potentially commercial products.
The Industrial Design programme curriculum at Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics as a whole can be regarded as one big creative-course, directed towards new products as commercial and business-opportunities. Through a series of design-projects, which is the core of the curriculum, the students get to go through a creative problem-solving design attitude. This inculcates the attitude that evokes interest in applicable know-how and skills. The curriculum is balanced in such a way that knowledge and skills learned through courses can almost immediately be applied in the product design project.
The industrial design is a four-year programme. There is an internship in the third year with a company locally and planning abroad. The education model we apply at Industrial Design Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics is unique in Malaysia. Students will work in a simulated professional design environment, where they work in groups and individuals. The students are also given related individual assignments. About 80% of the student’s time is spent on the core courses, about 20% on university compulsory courses in which students acquire basic knowledge and skills. The programme course consists of basic training and subsequently specialisation in different areas.
Students are thoroughly introduced to the design profession in the first year, so they will find out quite quickly whether they are suited to it or not. All students develop a digital portfolio detailing their experience during the course of their studies showing what they have created or learnt. Students are graded on their portfolios and formal examinations. Successful completion of the programme in Industrial Design results in Bachelor of Science with Honours Industrial Design.

Bachelor in Artificial Intelligence with honours offers in Faculty of Artificial Intelligence UTM is a 3-year program and is designed to provide students with a broad background in the principles, methodologies, and applications of AI. The program gives students the knowledge and skills to overcome and cope with the problems and opportunities of the emerging field of AI. The curriculum will provide a foundational course in mathematics and computer science and core AI courses.
This comprises a set of courses that will particularly concentrate on the field of AI, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, generative AI, Responsible AI, and ethics and many more. Elective courses cover advanced topics in AI and AI applications in different domains. Students can choose up to 11 elective courses as per their interest or aspiration.
The program emphasizes industry infused and hands-on experience via practical training, projects, and internships. Through this, the students will get a chance to apply AI techniques to real-world problems.
Such hands-on experience will surely help the students gain critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Upon completion of the Bachelor in Artificial Intelligence with Honours program at UTM, graduates are well-equipped to pursue careers in various sectors such as technology, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and more. They may work as AI engineers, data scientists, machine learning specialists, research scientists, AI consultants, or pursue further studies at the graduate level. The program aims to produce graduates capable of contributing to the development and application of AI technologies to address societal challenges and drive innovation.

Mechanical engineering is the discipline that applies engineering, physics, engineering mathematics, and materials science principles to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. Mechanical Engineering program consists of four main areas, i.e., Applied Mechanics, Design, Thermodynamics, and Fluid Mechanics. The learning and research activities in the field of Applied Mechanics and Design are focusing on the structural mechanics of engineering materials (typically, metals composites and biomaterials), computational modeling, systems design, monitoring and control, computer-aided design, virtual reality engineering, reliability, and optimization-based design, and industrial and product design. While for the Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics areas, the activities are focusing on alternative fuel, combustion, renewable and sustainable energy, heat transfer, refrigeration and air-conditioning system, computational fluid dynamics, fluid power, tribology, and turbomachinery. The school is committed to producing human capital with first-class mentality and values that can seek and explore knowledge, possess holistic entrepreneurial thinking and the country’s professional workforce by taking into account the curriculum of the 21st Century and the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (4IR). The process of learning and teaching is also based on the NALI method and technology.

The Ocean Engineering panel runs the Bachelor of Engineering (Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering) programme which offer students various topics related to naval architecure and offshore engineering fields. This programme is accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and the Royal Institution of Naval Architecture (RINA). The area of studies include the ship and offshore design, system design, performance and dynamic behaviour of marine vehicles such as ships and offshore structures. In order to achieve this, students are exposed to important courses such as Naval Architecture, Ship and Offshore Design, Ship and Offshore Structure, Marine Management, Environment and Safety, Marine and Offshore Engineering Systems and many more. The courses will equip students to solve complex naval architecture and offshore engineering problems through various teaching and learning methods including laboratory works. Students can get benefit from the laboratory facilities especially towing tank facilities in Marine Technology Center. In addition, the usage of software such as Rhino, Matlab, Maxsurf and Ansys CFD will expose students as the added value for their knowledge.

The Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours is offered either on a full-time or part-time basis. The full-time programme is the main programme, offered by the Faculty while the part-time programme is offered by the School of Professional and Continuing Education (UTMSPACE). The full-time programme is offered only at the UTM Main Campus in Johor Bahru while the part-time programme is offered at various learning centres throughout Malaysia. The duration of study for the full-time programme is subjected to the student’s entry qualifications and lasts between four (4) years to a maximum of six (6) years.

The duration of study for the full-time programme is subjected to the student’s entry qualifications and lasts between four (4) years to a maximum of six (6) years.
The programme is offered on full-time basis and is based on a 2-Semester per academic session. Assessment is based on courseworks and final examinations given throughout the semester."

The programme is conducted in an industrial mode based on a 2-Semester per academic session. Generally, students are expected to undertake courses equivalent to between fourteen (14) to eighteen (18) credit hours per semester. Few courses are delivered in Work-based learning (WBL) from Year 1 until Year 3. Students will undergo 1 year industrial training with UTM industry partners in the final year of their study to gain a real-world data engineering professional experiences. Student learning and assessment for WBL courses will be facilitated by university and industry supervisors.
