This program offers the integration knowledge of chemical engineering and gas engineering. In this 4-year program, students will be equipped with basic engineering theory and chemical engineering fundamental such as chemical reaction engineering, heat and mass transfer, separation process, process control and instrumentaion and chemical plant design. In addition, they will be offered with specialised knowledge of gas engineering that involves processing, transmission, distribution, and gas utilization, while the interation knowledge of chemical engineering sllows the understanding of the process of converting resources into value-added products using the application of basic sciences and engineering principles to the development, design, operation and maintenance of processes. Expertise in process design, operation, project supervising, maintenance, research and management is very important in ensuring the success of these activities. This program also embeds the highly demanding skills of artificial intelligence for chemical-gas engineers, green and sustainable energy technologies as well as carbon capture, utilisation, utilisation and storage. The main task of chemical and gas engineers is to ensure that mid stream to downstream activities are carried out optimally, economically, safely, and without the effect of pollution on the environments and ecosystem. The combination of Gas and Chemical engineering will thus produce graduates with a broad range of physical and chemical processes which enables them to easily participate in a wide variety of industrial and governmental activities.

PEO 1 : Become competent holistic professionals in chemical engineering or related industries
PEO 2 : Contribute towards sustainable development through knowledge and innovative technologies to prosper lives

PLO1 Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, computing and engineering fundamentals, and petroleum engineering to develop solutions to complex engineering problems.

PLO 2 Identify, formulate, research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences with holistic considerations for sustainable development.

PLO 3 Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or processes to meet identified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon as well as resource, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations as required.

PLO 4 Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research methods including research-based knowledge, design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.

PLO 5 Create, select and apply, and recognize limitation of appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to complex engineering problems.

PLO 6 Analyze and evaluate sustainable development impacts to: society, the economy, sustainability, health and safety, legal frameworks, and the environment, in solving complex engineering problems.

PLO 7 Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and norms of engineering practice and adhere to relevant national and international laws. Demonstrate an understanding of the need for diversity and inclusion.

PLO 8 Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse, and inclusive teams and in multidisciplinary, face-to-face, remote and distributed settings.

PLO 9 Communicate effectively and inclusively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentations, make effective presentations, taking into account cultural, language, and learning differences.

PLO 10 Apply knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles and economic decision-making and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, and to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.

A combination of chemical process and gas engineering knowledge make it a uniquely distinct engineering discipline as the graduate can work as a chemical and process engineer as well as gas engineer for transportation and gas utilization. Knowledge in chemical engineering will enable the graduates to also work in petrochemical, oleo chemical and manufacturing industries as well as governmental and private sectors. The programme graduates is especially expert due to the specialisation in oil and gas industry and in particular gas engineering fields such as such as gas processing, transmission, distribution and utilization. Gas engineer has been in high demand to meet the increasing manpower requirement to support the increasing gas projects. These are in the area of gas liquefaction, gas processing, petrochemical processing and the delivery of gas to the power plant, industrial user, commercial center, domestic consumer throughout peninsular Malaysia.Chemical engineering (gas) graduates are also worked in teaching and RnD at higher learning institutions and research centers.
