The four-year full-time programme designed to produce graduates with Physics knowledge, technical skills and positive attributes to face the challenges in the workplace mainly in industries and research-based institutes/industries. The graduates will become professionals who are competent, innovative, productive and talented physicists for research and development (R&D) and industrial needs. On top of that, they will be equipped with appropriate soft skills for lifelong learning, as well as global citizens with positive attitude, integrity and high responsibility to the community.
The course is offered on full-time mode and is based on a two semesters academic session with several courses being delivered and assessed in each semester. Assessment is based on final examination and coursework conducted throughout the semester.
Faculty core: 15 credits
Programme core: 61 credits
Programme electives: 33 credits
Compulsory University Courses: 19 credits
Award requirements:
To graduate, students should:
• Attain a total of not less than 128 credit hours with minimum CPA of 2.0.
• Pass industrial training.
• Complete and pass the final year undergraduate project.
PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Bachelor of Science (Industrial Physics) program are to provide knowledge, skills, and attributes needed for a successful career. It is therefore anticipated that, graduates of the program will
1. Become competent, innovative, productive, and talented physicists for industrial and research needs.
2. Become a professional with appropriate soft-skills.
3. Have a positive attitude, integrity, and high responsibility to the community and global.
PLO1 - Relate comprehensive fundamental concept and theoretical knowledge in multi-disciplinary field of applied physics.
PLO2 - Apply fundamental laws and principles of physics using various methods to solve related problems in applied physics.
PLO3 - Demonstrate technical and experimental skills using advance and specific equipment in the field of applied physics.
PLO4 - Construct procedures based on numerical and graphical information to make the right decisions in the scopes of physics applications.
PLO5 - Work together in various local and international working communities.
PLO5 - Convey ideas both in written or oral forms using appropriate and different forms of presentation, confidently accurately and coherently in the appropriate context in a well-structured manner to a diversity of audiences.
PLO6 - Use a broad range of information, media and technology applications to support study and/or work.
PLO7- Devise procedures on numerical and graphical information to make the right conclusions and decisions.
PLO8 - Exhibit independence and professionalism in managing responsibilities within broad organizational needs.
PLO9 - Engage effectively in self- directed lifelong learning and professional pathways.
PLO10 - Relate entrepreneurial competency within given tasks and job scopes.
For Malaysian Students
General Entry Requirements
A pass with credit in Bahasa Melayu/ Bahasa Malaysia at SPM level, and
A pass in Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) with at least C grade (CGPA 2.00) in General Paper and C grade (CGPA 2.00) in any two of the taken subjects in the STPM, or
A pass in STAM Qualification for at least Jayyid level, or
A pass in Malaysian Matriculation Certificate / Foundation with minimum CGPA of 2.00, or
Hold A – Level / International Baccalaureate / Australian Matriculation (Ausmat) Certificate, or
Hold Diploma / Equivalent recognized by Malaysian government and approved by the University Senate or a pass in Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) with at least C Grade (CGPA 2.00) in General Paper and C Grade (CGPA 2.00) in any two of the taken subject in the STPM, or
Hold Diploma Vokasional recognized by Malaysian government and approved by the University Senate, or
Attained a minimum Band 2 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

General Entry Requirements
A Senior High School Certificate/Senior Secondary School/other equivalent pre-university qualifications from government schools (with a period of at least 12 years of study from primary to higher secondary). Refer to https://admission.utm.my/general-entry-requirement/ for further details.
Participate in the bridging program organized by the university, and
Attained a minimum Band 3 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)/ Band 5.5 in IELTS/ Score of 46 in TOEFL iBT.

This program prepares graduate to pursue carriers in various industries such as industrial supervisor, human resource manager, instrumentation services manager, quality control and production engineer, professional engineers and Occupational Health Officers. In public sectors, the graduate may pursue carrier as Science Officer, Research Scientist, Meteorologist and etc.
