UTM Master’s Degree Entry Requirements (Local & International)
To be eligible for a Master’s by Coursework program at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), applicants—both local and international—must hold a Bachelor’s Degree with good honours from UTM or any recognized institution, or an equivalent qualification accepted by the UTM Senate. Relevant working experience may be considered for certain cases.

Academic Requirements
Applicants must have at least one of the following academic standings:
A CPA of 2.50 and above on a 4.00 scale; or
A CPA of 3.13 and above on a 5.00 scale; or
A CPA of 12.5 and above on a 20 scale; or
A percentage score of 62.5% and above; or
A score of 625 and above on a 1000-point scale.
Applicants who do not meet these minimum requirements, but possess a lower second-class degree (e.g. third class or general pass), must have at least five (5) years of relevant work experience in the intended field of study. This applies to both local and international candidates.

English Language Requirements (International Applicants Only)
If your previous degree was not conducted in English, you’ll need to meet UTM’s English proficiency standards. Accepted minimum scores include:
MUET Band 4.0
IELTS Band 6.0
TOEFL iBT score of 60
Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 59
Cambridge English score of 169 (B2 level)
Or completion of ELS Level 109 (CIEP)
If your score is lower, you’ll need to attend either UTM's Intensive English Programme (IEP) or ELS CIEP and complete up to Level 109.

Who’s Exempted?
You’re exempted from English tests if:
You finished high school or graduated from English-speaking countries (like the US, UK, Australia, Singapore, India, Nigeria, etc.).
You’re an undergraduate with international school, A-Levels, or IB qualifications.
You’re a postgraduate from Brunei, Indonesia, or other Malay-speaking countries and your thesis will be written in Malay (with approval).
For Islamic Civilization postgrads, thesis in Arabic is also allowed (with approval).

Linguaskill is a 100% online and computer-based test, which enables test takers to be remotely proctored and have their English competency levels tested wherever they are. However, we would like to inform you that UTM will only accept the Linguaskill Online language proficiency test results if the candidate registers for the test with a Malaysian test center specifically under SASBADI (Institution: MY959) which is the exclusive and authorized Linguaskill Agent by Cambridge Assessment English in Malaysia. The decision to use a VPN to register for the Linguaskill test with a Malaysian test centeris up to the individual student.
Candidates may click the link below to register for the Cambridge Linguaskill test: https://e4c.sasbadi.com/linguaskill/register/ra-utm1-c1

Health Requirements (International Students)
All international students must undergo a mandatory health screening upon arriving in Malaysia. You must be free from any infectious or contagious diseases, and if you're from a yellow fever endemic country, you must provide a valid immunization certificate. Without it, you may be subject to quarantine for up to 6 days. UTM reserves the right to withdraw admission offers or terminate enrollment if a student is found to have serious health issues that may affect their academic progress.
