ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n
All candidates must meet the general admission requirements for UTM postgraduate programmes as outlined in the Guidelines for Evaluating Student Admission Requirements to UTM Postgraduate Programmes, Amendment 1\/2013, which was approved in Senate Meeting No. 10\/2012\/2013 dated 19 April 2013.<\/p>\n
SPECIFIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR EdD PROGRAMME<\/p>\n
A Bachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent from UTM or from any institution of higher learning recognised by the Senate; and
\nA Master\u2019s degree or equivalent from UTM or from any institution of higher learning recognised by the Senate; and
\nTwo (2) years of work experience in education or a related field
\nTHE ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n
English language competency is not mandatory for local students.
\nInternational students applying for postgraduate programmes at UTM must meet one of the following English language competency requirements:
\nMalaysian University English Test (MUET) with a minimum score of Band 4.0 or higher; or
\nIELTS\/IELTS Online with a minimum score of Band 6.0 or higher; or
\nTOEFL iBT\/TOEFL Online with a minimum score of 60 or higher; or
\nCambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE), or Linguaskill with a minimum score of 169 or higher; or
\nPearson Test of English (PTE) Academic with a minimum score of 59 or higher; or
\nCertified Intensive English Programme Level (CIEP Level) with Level 109 or higher.
\nExemptions from the English language requirements may be granted to international students from countries where English is the official language, or to those who have obtained academic qualifications from institutions where English is the sole medium of instruction, and who intend to pursue further studies in Malaysia.
\nInternational students who do not meet the above requirements may enrol in the Intensive English Programme (IEP) at UTM\u2019s Language Academy or the Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) at any ELS Language Centre in Malaysia for a maximum duration of one year from the date of registration. Upon completing the programme, students must take MUET or any of the examinations listed in (a) to (f) to qualify for admission into their main academic programme at UTM.
\nADMISSION REQUIREMENTS VIA APEL A (T8)<\/p>\n
Must be at least 35 years old at the time of applying for the programme.
\nMust possess at least a Bachelor\u2019s Degree or its equivalent or higher (Examples: Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma).
\nMust have at least 5 years of working experience in the field of Education or a related field after completing a Bachelor\u2019s Degree programme.
\nMust pass the APEL.A assessment for the doctoral level.
\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT<\/p>\n
Candidates are required to submit a 500\u20131,000-word brief research proposal at the time of application.<\/p>\n
PREREQUISITE COURSE: YHPP1013 FOUNDATION OF EDUCATION<\/p>\n
Starting from the 2023\/24 semester 1 session, doctoral candidates without qualifications in education or relevant work experience must pass YHPP Foundations of Education in the first semester.
\nStudents may enrol in the university elective course while fulfilling the prerequisite.
\nPassing the prerequisite is compulsory in order to defend the proposal.
\nThe requirement to undertake this course is mentioned in the offer letter.
\nCandidates required to undertake the YHPP Foundations of Education as a prerequisite may apply for exemption only if they meet these specific criteria.
