ACADEMIC CIRCULAR NO. 5/2026

IMPLEMENTATION OF TEACHING AND LEARNING (T&L) OPERATIONAL CONTROL MEASURES IN RESPONSE TO THE GLOBAL ENERGY CRISIS

Referring to Administrative Circular No. 17/2026 on the Implementation of Campus Operational Control Measures in Response to the Global Energy Crisis dated 14 April 2026, issued by the Office of the Registrar, Teaching and Learning (T&L) activities will also be affected by this directive.

In line with this implementation, and to ensure the smooth management of academic affairs as well as operational alignment across the University, all academic staff are requested not to conduct physical Teaching and Learning (T&L) activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays, subject to the following conditions:

i. Tuesday
Teaching and Learning activities may be conducted physically only with prior approval from the University through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International). Such approval is limited to essential T&L activities only.

ii. Thursday
Physical Teaching and Learning activities are strictly not permitted, and no special approval will be granted.

This directive applies to all academic activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays as follows:

Lectures – To be conducted fully online
Tutorials – To be conducted fully online
Laboratory, studio, and workshop sessions – To be rescheduled in accordance with this circular (except Tuesdays, which require special approval)
Viva sessions – To be conducted fully online (no special approval permitted)
Tests and final examinations – To be rescheduled in accordance with this circular (except Tuesdays, which require special approval)
Physical supervision or consultation sessions – Not permitted on Tuesdays and Thursdays

The cooperation of all faculties, departments, institutes, and centres is highly appreciated to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of this policy. Academic staff and students are requested to take note and comply fully with the requirements outlined.

Any other matters should refer to the circular issued by the Office of the Registrar.

This circular is effective immediately until further notice.
